PROJECT 1
Space Out - the Material Cube
In this project, we were required to construct cubes using wood and paperto define a volume of 12”x12”x12” inch space. The purpose of this project is to explore and understand building making in relation to materials, design considerations of material according to their properties and to finally understand how the intrinsic forms, limitations and boundaries of a material factor in a design process.
Throughout this project, I have learnt about the using of materials and fastening materials may affect the process of building the cube. Thus, it is important to explore more about the properties of the materials before selecting which material to use.
PROJECT 2
Materiality of Space:
An Experiential Exploration
In this project, we were to form a group in 5 to carry out this project which consists of 2 tasks. For the first task, is a group work. We were required to choose and select a building and study about the materials used. We were also required to draw out the plans to indicate the materials used in that specific area and then explain about the properties and applications of the materials. In total, we have to prepare 1 mood board and 2 analysis board for group work. While for second task is an individual work. We were required to prepare only 1 board about our experience within the specific space we chose in the building.
Throughout this project, I have understand more about the effects of the building materials on aesthetics and structural qualities of the space or building and also which materials is more appropriate to use accoding to the concept and climate.
