PROJECT: PRECEDENT STUDIES - PRESENTATION BOARD

In this part of project, we were to form a group of 5 and select one architect together with the building and conduct an architectural analysis on the specific building. We chose Le Corbusier and his masterpiece, Villa Savoye. Analysis was conducted with the coverage of different themes which consist of:

 

  • Spatial Organization

  • Structure, Construction and Materials

  • Components

  • Massing / Form

  • The External Facade

 

I was in charged of structure, construction and materials. Villa Savoye is constructed with golden mean and modulor system and material used on Villa Savoye is reinforced concrete, steel and glass.

PROJECT: PRECEDENT STUDIES - ANALYTICAL ESSAY

In this part of project, we were to produce a comparison analytical essay individually about the same theme. We were required to compare the building chosen at the first part of project and compare it with the other modern master's building under the same theme. I had chosen Frank Llyod Wright's Fallingwater to compare Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye. 

 

Attached below is the analytical essay produced.

Throughout this project, I have learnt more about the buildings studied. I understand not only the general facts of the both buildings but also the deeper information about the building especially the structure, construction method and also the materials used in constructing Villa Savoye and also Fallingwater.
