PROJECT 1A
On-site Sketching
In this project, within the Taylor's compound, we were required to engage with the site by experiencing it
through a spatial sequence. While moving in sequence, we were required to record our observation and
perception of the spaces through free-hand sketches. The sequences must include both exterior and interior spaces.
Throughout this project, I have learnt about the notion of space in architecture. Besides, I have also
learnt and developed skills in visualizing of space through observation and perception of a given site and
also skills in sketching as a mode of communication.
PROJECT 1B
Tonal Value
In this project, an image was provided by our lecturer. We were required to produce four variations of tonal value sketch. Examples of hatching types include stippling, cross hatching, one-directional hatching and scribbling.
Throughout this project, I have learnt about understanding of the notion of space and detailing in architecture and objects. Besides, I have also learnt and developed skills in communicating through sketches in various tonal and depth values.
PROJECT 2
Orthographic Projections
In this project, we were required to produce orthographic drawings and of Barcelona Pavillion. This project is divided into 3 parts.The first part is to produce the floor plan, elevations and sections of Barcelona Pavillion while the second part is to produce an axonometric projection and last but not least for the last part, one-point and two-point perspectives.
Throughout this project, I have learnt to demonstrate drafting skills in modern and traditional methods of architectural drawing and also to identify and apply architectural conventions and symbols. Besides, I have also learnt and understand how to draw a building in axonometric projection, one-point and two-point perspectives, and apply the basic principles to express spatial ideas and architectural detail in 3D. And also demonstrating different line weights, line types and architectural lettering.
PROJECT 3
Finishing & Presentation
For this project, it is intergrated with the final project of Design Studio 1. Based on Design Studio's final project brief, we were required to produce a floor plan, front elevation, section, axonometric or exterior perspective and interior perspective of the model.
Throughout this project, I am now able to produce architectural ideas and designs through 2D and 3D technical drawings. Besides, I am now also able to illustrate my own design's form and space through selected types of architectural drawings, sketches and models and also to identify appropriate types of architectural drawings, sktches and models to convey my own idea and design in its form and space. And most importantly, I am able to apply skills and techniques which i learnt throughout this semester in producing visual materials for design project.
